OYSAN and GRIT® Establish Partnership

Richfield, Ohio. February 10, 2012: We are pleased to announce that Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN) and GRIT® have established a partner-sponsor relationship for the benefit of OYSAN members.

Ohio Youth Soccer Association North would like to announce a new feature available on the US Youth Soccer website, designed to help promote your club!

US Youth Soccer is launching a new, free service in an effort to assist those seeking US Youth Soccer programs in their area or maybe an area that they’ll be moving to in the future, the Club Directory will provide 24-hour access to club, league and association searches via USYouthSoccer.org.

OYSAN State Cup Tournament Location Announced

PRESS RELEASE. Richfield, Ohio . November 7, 2011: Pacesetter Soccer Complex will once again be host to this year’s State Cup competition weekend which runs from June 1^st through 3^rd, 2012.

Pacesetter Park is located in Sylvania, Ohio, which serves as a suburb of the Toledo area. Sylvania Pacesetter Park is a 138 acre multi-use sports complex. The soccer fields are natural turf at this complex, and the park offers concessions, playgrounds, and restroom facilities.

The tournament, part of the National Championship Series, features age groups of boys and girls teams ranging in ages from Under-10 (U10) to Under-19 (U19) and serves as the qualifier for the Regional Championships which will be held in Saginaw, Michigan. The winners of the regionals competition will then advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships.

Last year, the 2011 tournament saw over 230 teams across all age divisions, resulting in thousands of player participants and spectators in attendance over the tournament weekend. The tournament produced 11 regional qualifying teams from the Ohio North area.

OYSAN, a nonprofit organization which manages the tournament and the State Office of US Youth Soccer,  is currently accepting applications for sponsorship from local and National companies who wish to have their business recognized at the event and help support youth sports , US Youth Soccer, and the National Championship series in Ohio North.

OYSAN and Zoom Reports Team Up for Coaching Clinics

Richfield, Ohio. September 14, 2011: We are pleased to announce that Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN) and Zoom Reports have established a relationship for the benefit of OYSAN members. 

Zoom Reports is a software program which allows coaches and directors to quickly and efficiently create player evaluations online. The program also allows for players to do self-evalutions, save comments and critiques, and communicate with both players and parents.

Zoom Reports has agreed to sponsor the Coaching Sessions at this year’s Ohio Youth Soccer Association North Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center.  A representative from the software firm will be available to answer questions and demonstrate the product.  The Workshops, (offered free of charge to Recreational, Travel, and Premier-level coaches, Directors of Coaching and  Assistants who have registered teams in OYSAN programs and affiliated leagues) are a popular and well-attended component of the AGM weekend events.

OYSAN Member, Sarver, Inducted to Ohio Soccer Hall of Fame

Saturday August 20,2011 Ohio-North standout and OYSAN member,
was INDUCTED INTO THE OHIO SOCCER HALL of FAME as a player
and one of the best amongst best.

KERI had played at NATIONAL, PROFFESIONAL, STATE, and REGIONAL
level teams, at which time she exhibited those attributes which reflect good
sportsmanship,teamwork and advanced technical playing skills.

She began recreational soccer at the age of 4 and then joined the
Firestone Park club team in a mostly Boys Division. She joined Girls
Soccer in Jackson. At age of 12 she joined the Internationals Soccer
Program. She excelled at the Regional ODP level, traveling
throughout the Mid-west, played in Europe, and joined the National B
team.

She helped elevate the Jackson High School program to become one of
the top teams in Ohio and reach the final 4 High School tournaments.
She led the team with 50 goals her senior year and was recognized as
All-Ohio and as the Akron Beacon Journal Athlete of the year and a
Parade High School All America. In 2004, she was inducted into the
Jackson High School Hall of Fame.

She was heavily recruited by such schools as Notre Dame, Connecticut,
Anson Dorrance at North Carolina and April Heinrich to the University
of Maryland. She helped lead Maryland to 2 appearances in the Elite
8 of the NCAA tournament and to the ACC tournament championship game.

She was a standout at the University of Maryland from 1995-98 and was
named an All-American by Soccer Times and the University's Female
Student-Athlete of the year. She is the girls all-time leading
scorer at the University. She was recognized as one of the top 50
ACC Women's Soccer players in their 50 year history and received the
Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) postgraduate Scholarship award.

Keri was a star in the classroom as well, winning the University of
Maryland President's Cup Award for Academic Achievement, the Maryland
Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics Outstanding Academic
Achievement Award, and was a regular on the Dean's List before
graduating with a Degree in Computer Science.

Following graduating from college, she played professional soccer
with the Washington Freedom, New York Power, and Carolina Courage of
the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA).

She was featured as a young professional balancing a career as a
Computer Engineer with the prestigious MITRE Corporation and as a
member of the newly formed WUSA in an article by the Washington
Business Journal. She has received numerous recognition awards from
MITRE during her 10-year career there.

Keri has transitioned from Player to Coach and mentor of young
athletes and was selected as the United States Youth Soccer
Association Competitive Girls coach of the year for 2009.

During her acceptance speech, she shared with all her appreciation
for support of many. Her blessings for opportunity given and
commitment to give back to the game and new generations of players
she now coaches.

OYSAN Bothwell Cup Registration is Underway

Richfield, Ohio August 1, 2011: Ohio Youth Soccer Association North is accepting ONLINE APPLCIATIONS utilizing the Tournament Builder System for the 2011 Bothwell Cup. The annual tournament, now in its twentieth year, is  for ages U9 through U14/15 teams in both boys and girls divisions and will be held at The Diamond Soccer Complex in Canton, Ohio October 21^st through 23^rd, 2011.

OYSAN Launches Redesigned Website

Richfield, Ohio. July 12, 2011: We are pleased to announce that Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN)  has developed a newly redesigned and repurposed website for the organization.

Pacesetter Teams Show Strong for OYSAN at Regionals

 Richfield, Ohio. June 30, 2011. The US Youth Soccer, Region II Championships, features top teams in the Under-13 through Under-19 age groups, beginning with registration and opening ceremonies on Friday, June 24. Round robin games are Saturday, June 25, through Monday, June 27, with semifinal matches Tuesday, June 28 and finals on June 29^th.

Pacesetter’s U13 boys advanced to semi-final play, where they Sporting Kansas City Juniors edged a win over Head Coach Ryan Creech and the Pacesetter boys by 2 goals. In the U18 bracket, Pacesetter obtained a win over NFC Veleno (from Omaha Nebraska) to win a coveted spot in the Region Final on June 29^th where they ultimately faced the KCFC Rangers of Overland Park, Kansas.

The mission of The Pacesetter Soccer Club is to provide N.W. Ohio youth the opportunity to develop individual and team soccer skills to their fullest potential through expert training and excellent team competition. The Club will address the physical, psychological, technical and tactical components of the game when training to ensure the best experience for each player. OYSAN Donating Soccer Balls to Haitian Relief Efforts

Richfield, Ohio. June 29, 2011:  Beth Gerberich, a representative of the “Christian Fellowship Mission”, wants to bring some much-needed relief to the boys and girls in Haiti… and Ohio Youth Soccer Association is helping her do just that!

OYSAN has donated several adidas tournament soccer balls, size 4, to Ms. Gerberich for her five hour flight to Haiti later this week.  She plans on delivering the equipment to Port Au Prince, and ultimately arriving in area that is referred to as “the island” where there is an orphanage attempting to create a sense of normalcy for Haitian children.

Although for many Americans, the earthquake is long-forgotten, for Haitian children, the earthquake still affects their daily lives in a substantial way. Many children lost parents and family… and in turn, their childhoods.  The small donation from OYSAN of soccer balls will hopefully provide for a bit of fun in their lives.

Ohio North State Cup Winners Headed to Regionals in Wisconsin

Richfield, Ohio. June 9, 2011:  The annual State Cup Tournament hosted by Ohio Youth Soccer Association North has wrapped up its 2011 game schedule with winners being posted in all competing age groups from Under 10 (U10) to Under 19 (U19) for both boys and girls divisions.

State Cup winners in the U13 through U19 age brackets will advance to the Regional Tournament held in Green Bay, Wisconsin.  Opening ceremonies are at Lambeau Field, Home to the Packers, on June 24^th, with tournament play starting June 25^th, 2011.

The teams advancing on behalf of Ohio North are:

U11 winners were Internationals (Boys) and Cleveland Futbol Club Royal (Girls). U12 winners included Team Challenger FC (Boys) and Cleveland Futbol Club (Girls).

Good luck to all of the athletes and team staff on their continued success at Regionals, where they will have the opportunity to compete for a coveted seat at Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona.

Pritchau Invited to National Camp

May 4, 2011. Richfield, Ohio. Congratulations to Erik Pritschau from Perry, Ohio.  Erik has been called into the National Team Training Camp for the U14 NDP (National Development Program) at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Pritschau, a defender who also plays for PFC, was called to the National Camp after participating at the Regional level, representing Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN) as an ODP (Olympic Development Program) player.

Pritschau joins 38 other elite athletes from across the country including 9 other Region II players (Max Stiegwardt, Mukwelle Akale, Konstandin Moni, Peter Schropp, Shannon Seymour, Benjamin Swanson, and Alex Knox) who may have the opportunity to represent the U.S. in future play.

Cleveland FC Girls Experience Unprecedented Success

COMMUNITY NEWS POST:Congratulations are in order to the ladies of Cleveland FC. On Wednesday February 2^nd ,  fourteen Cleveland FC High School Seniors signed their National Letters of Intent.  This talented group of young ladies comes from all over Northeast Ohio make up the Cleveland FC 92-93s – the most successful team in Cleveland FC history. 

Through their hard work and dedication to both soccer and academics, the ladies from the 92-93 Cleveland FC team have earned over $2 million in scholarships, and will take their talents to their new teams all over the country.

Coached by Pete Demonte, the majority of the team has been with Cleveland FC since they were under 10 years old.  The girls have been fierce competitors from the start… placing to the finals of every Ohio Youth Soccer Association North (OYSAN) State Cup since the U10division; and, winning 6 championships!  The team finished as Region II Champions (2009), Finalists (2008) and Semi-Finalists (2006).  In 2009, the team also represented Region II in the US Youth Soccer Nationals.

  

In Midwest Regional League competition, they have won the Premier Division three years in a row (U15, U16 and U17) – an unprecedented accomplishment, which no other Ohio North Soccer team has accomplished! 

In 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons, the team was accepted as the only Ohio team in a pool of 8 outstanding teams in the USYS National League. 

Cleveland FC players have also made their mark in the ODP (Olympic Development Program.) All players from the squad (except for two) have participated in the ODP.  Each of the participating players made the State ODP team, with several qualifying for the Regional and National Pools.  They have participated in Regional events  as well as international squads that have gone to Germany, Portugal and Costa Rica to play.

During the High School season, the ladies also demonstrated outstanding leadership on the respective High School teams – they earned All-American honors, All-State honors and many other post-season awards.  Players from the Cleveland FC team have played in every State Championship game for the last four years ; with the last two being named State Champs.
